Gay is utterly addicted to the iPhone Apps that offer a Simple tap-to-color game. One easily fills in numbered areas with corresponding colors—no drawing skills required. It is designed for relaxation: ideal for quietness and stress relief, helping one unwind. (ps. I am also addicted to it – blush). One develops, over an hour sometimes, absolutely exquisite pictures once you have filled in every numbered cell as prescribed. There can be up to 3000 small cells that have to be coloured in and it could take up to an hour and a half. (some are much smaller and therefore quicker to do). Here’s a pick of one:-
I did this one while on holiday in Cape Town one evening before going out onto the balcony and lifting my eyes to the heavens to see the real deal – the heavens and the stars and the moon in glorious splendor. I was reminded of Isaiah’s amazement when he wrote:- Isaiah 40:26 – “Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these (stars)? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name.” – and I thought: It took me an hour to create the picture above … our Creator God presents me with this vista every night of my life. We went to Kirstenbosch the next day and I took in the myriad of colours and different species of flora. We then drove back from Cape Town through the Meiring’s Poort Pass outside Prince Albert and we were in tears by the bigness and beauty of the mountains and the hills. God did all of that without a paint-by-numbers plan before Him. We celebrated with Job as he wrote: Job 12:7–10 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
As a meditation this morning why not listen to Chris Tomlinson’s glorious worship song “Indescribable” and get lost in your worship of Creator God who has poured out every good gift in creation.
